Introducing Chorus

Since we founded Penrose Education in 2019, our mission has always been to bring about an education sector full of happy, motivated and skilful teachers. So far, the main way we have been doing this has been via our Teacher Training & Education Platform: Mosaic. But we have begun working on a new project, to further our mission in a different, exciting way!

We have been working in collaboration with partners from across the ITE sector to plan, pilot and test the introduction of a brand new service: Chorus. We are aiming to establish Chorus as a large-scale tool for administering surveys to trainee/student teachers across England on a rolling basis. The surveys themselves are going to be weekly and easy-to-complete – but they are going to form part of a larger research project designed to surface important information about the wonderful cohort of new teachers that are coming into the profession this year. Who are they? What are their hopes and aspirations? How can we all be best working together to support them into the profession?

2026 Spring Term Pilot

Following a small but successful pilot in the Summer Term of 2025, we are excited to be entering a second phase that will run in the Spring Term of 2026. Should this also prove successful, the hope is that Chorus could then become a permanent fixture in Penrose Education’s offer (and in the ITE calendar!) We are inviting all ITE providers across England to take part in this exciting project – to add your trainees’/student teachers’ voices to the Chorus!

What is it not?

Chorus is not going to be evaluative of either individual providers, or the sector as a whole. We’ve been working closely with the Universities Council for the Education of Teachers (UCET) and the National Association of School Based Teacher Training (NASBTT) – as well as representatives from Universities and SCITTs – to make sure that while the data we might generate from this research will hopefully be interesting, exciting and valuable for all of us, it is going to be collected sensitively. We are designing surveys that could not be misused to judge the sector, and we will never publish provider level data.

What is in it for trainees/student teachers?

We are going to incentivise trainees/student teachers to enter the survey by running regular prize draws for those taking part throughout the project. But we are also going to share anonymised, aggregated results of the surveys with participants – which they might also find interesting. Hopefully, the questions we will be asking are the kind that they will be curious to see the results from! If you are a trainee or student teacher and would like to take part, do put your course leads in touch with us by sharing this post with them

What is in it for ITE providers?

Taking part is completely free for ITE providers (and for trainees/student teachers themselves). The more trainees/student teachers we have taking part, the richer the potential data we will be able to generate. Once a SCITT or University registers interest in taking part, we will contact them directly to share more information about Chorus and to coordinate with them about how best to share registration details with their trainees/student teachers. We will also offer to share regular updates of our results with those interested in being kept up-to-date in the project as it progresses. To sign up to take part, you can use the link below.

We are proud to be working in collaboration with NASBTT and UCET on this project.

Still aren't sure or would like more detail?

For anyone curious or interested, but who would like more information before making a decision about whether to take part, we have also included options for how you can say “maybe”, with options for finding out more about this project first in the link below too.
